Controls Engineer

We are continuously searching for people who can contribute and provide real value to our customers and our organization. We are looking for a Controls Engineer to join our company. The successful candidate will have experience working in the material handling industry.


Experience with PLC’s and HMI’s using such brands as Allen Bradley (PLC5 and ControlLogix), Modicon, GE, and Mitsubishi. Experience with controls hardware design is required. Must know NFPA 79, IEEE, RIA, and ANSI Safety Standards. Determines controls engineering design issues by studying project concepts, objectives, priorities, and requirements; analyzing user and potential user input; evaluating similar and related products and systems; identifying and establishing performance standards.

Organizes design project by identifying short-term and long-range issues; preparing timetables, cost estimates, and required resources.\n\nPrograms different types of instrumentation including: Variable Speed Drives, Temperature Controllers, Chart Recorders, etc. Participates in Installation, start-up and commissioning of Control Systems. Experience with CIP Motion is desired. Proficiency with Microsoft applications including: Excel, Outlook, Word, Access, Project, and Visio, Programming Skills in VB and VB.Net are preferred. Willingness to work weekends, overtime and to travel.

Knowledge and Experience:

Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of field of specialization through successful completion of moderately complex assignments. Successfully applies complex knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization. Demonstrates knowledge of organizations business practices and issues. Typically 5-8 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above. Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable. Understands work scope, quantity and familiar with logical sequences in terms of engineering, manufacturing and construction disciplines. Works closely with management, engineering, CAD and installation in the development of work to break down structure for progress measurement, scheduling, cost estimating and project control.

Required Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor of Science-Electrical Engineering with 3 or more years of experience. Without a degree, 7-10 years of proven experience

Required Decision-making and Organization Impact:

Moderate level of impact on the organization. Requires day to day decision making skills.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to General Manager and Engineering Project Planner.

Working Conditions:

The incumbent is office based within an engineering environment, however; a significant amount of time is spent at the customer location therefore good mobility is essential.
